For historical accuracy I have left in the designation for kilocycles!
WXLW - daytimer with a directional antenna. When I was young I didn't know anything about directional antennas, so I could never understand why I couldn't hear this station where I lived!
WIBC - 50,000 watts, dropped power to protect the 1-A station out west (KNX).
WISH - rock and roll station, CBS affiliate.. Dick Summer eventually went on to WBZ, Boston and better things.
WIRE - NBC affiliate. WGEE was a country station, ABC affiliate.
It was during this time when Indianapolis had four DJ's whose names coincided with the seasons on a calendar...Summer, Fall, Winter, Spring. The Howdy Doody Show had an Indian Princess with all four names, Indianapolis had four DJ's.
There must be a joke in there, but I'll let you make it up yourself.
